Ultra
Electronics is a company known as a specialist of
electronic and electromechanical systems, subsystems and
other products for defence, security and aerospace
applications. With 3.000 employees in the UK and North
America, Ultra combines the expertise from various
fields. Their key to success consists in answering the
specific needs of each customer with a competitive edge
in terms of technology and productivity. That’s why,
among other, they have chosen the Mobilis shells to
equip their airline staff. Indeed, Ultra Electronics had
troubles in protecting the screens and laser lenses of
their Symbol scanners. Before Mobilis came to help, the
situation was far from a dream: “We had over £10.000
repair bills which have now split to a half”, tells one
of the Account Manager. “The breakage rate and the
scanner loss have reduced, mainly due to the V form hand
straps”. This has an immediate effect on the efficiency
level of the workers. “The users thought at first that
the shells would only make the device heavier and thus
more difficult to use, but now they have worked more
with, they have come to accept the shell as a practical
part of it. The portability and protection combo is
fully accepted by the employees, impressive!”
“Protection” is the key work here – something in common
between Ultra Electronics and Mobilis…

E-ON®
: Power & gas - UK
Equipped
population :
Field Sales force
Used material :
Fujitsu Siemens Pen tablet PC
Headquartered in Germany, E-ON has 40
million customers over the World and some 88.000 employees. E-ON
is the second largest energy generator and distributor network
in the UK. We could imagine that some of its power is its
personnel itself! That’s why Mobilis as been called to help some
field sales people to save their energy – at least from the
hardware problems. Indeed, with some 4.9 million customers in
Central England to take care of, the sales force has to be on
the field every day to serve them. In their daily work they use
a Fujitsu-Siemens pen tablet PC to collect information. As the
IT Manager of E-ON UK tells us: “Taking care of their hardware
is not a simple task – if the pen tablet breaks, its owner can’t
go back to work at least for the next 24 hours!” “We used to
have some leather cases but the protection level was not on the
one we expected” - notably because they were not water resistant.
“We didn’t need anything that would make the hardware completely
waterproof, and the answer of the Mobilis’ protective shells
seemed just right.” The portability and the protection provided
by the shell is a very good combination even with some drops and
bumps. We could deduct that the field sales people are satisfied
by the solution because if “they haven’t much feedback to give,
it only means that there is nothing to complaint about! They
care of their device because they need it to work well…”
